Center for Hearing and Communication: Hearing Symposium
Join us as we welcome back Carolyn Stern, Director of Outreach at CHC and Lauren Capua, 4th year audiology resident at CHC for a 3- part hearing symposium. Over the three session Carolyn & Lauren will discuss hearing loss & its connection to your health, common communication challenges with hearing loss, and technology to help with hearing loss.

Session #1 -
Hearing Loss and Your Health - This session will cover why addressing hearing loss is important for your health and well-being. We will discuss emotional barriers to seeking help for hearing loss including stigma and shame. Finally, we will share how to choose an audiologist and what you need to know about hearing testing. Come with your questions!

Session #2 -
Hearing Loss and Communication - Communication challenges are common with hearing loss. Join us for an informative session covering strategies that can improve communication for one-on-one, small groups and large social settings. We will also cover low cost technology and apps for hearing better the phone, TV and home alerts (ex. doorbell, cooking timer). We can't wait to share with you some amazing tools and tips. Come with any questions you may have for us to answer.

Session #3 -
Hearing Loss and Technology - Hearing aids are an important and useful solution for people with hearing loss when matched and fitted properly. The variety of options and features can be overwhelming. Join us for an educational session on hearing aid features and accessories for hearing better. We will also cover what you should expect from an audiologist and what questions you should ask to ensure you are getting top notch care and guidance.
