Her Prodigious Career: Henrietta Szold and the Jewish World She Helped Make
Before there were clear public roles for American Jewish women, Henrietta Szold shaped one of her own. Learned, indefatigable, and capable beyond measure, she created and contributed to some of American Jewry's most innovative Jewish cultural efforts even before she became the founder of Hadassah in 1912. Dr. Goldman's talk will review Szold's amazing career in the United States and in Palestine, reflect on how she navigated Jewish communal leadership as the singular woman that she was, and how she opened new channels and possibilities for hundreds of thousands of other Jewish women in the U.S. and in Israel.
